The Girls of Afghanistan

So, the topic of yesterday's brown bag lunch was the continuing plight of the girls and women of Afghanistan. The speakers were the ever eloquent and always moving Ellie Smeal, founder and preident of the Feminist Majority Fund (http://www.feminist.org/) and Farida Azizi, peace activist and founder of Cooperation for Peace and Unity. Farida was born in Afghanistan. I suppose the situation isn't quite as depressing as it was under the Taliban, but there is so very, very far to go.
