Out with the Old, In with the New

So far, on this last day of 2005, I've been to Curves; made my husband, my brother and myself apple pancakes for breakfast; vacuumed, dusted and wetmopped the kitchen, diningroom and livingroom; and showered....we are going to try to have a restful afternoon, an early dinner at Nam Viet Pho, and then welcome in the new year with concert videos and a glass of champagne. Charles has to get up very early tomorrow to pick up the kids and head back to Wisconsin, so it will be an early night. I am thankful for the past year. It was a nice one. I am hopeful for the new one. It looks, from here, like it could be a lot of fun.

"The Last Days of Dogtown" by Anita Diamant

I really liked this book:

She's the author of "The Red Tent." I liked "Dogtown" better.

A Perfect Birthday

Tuesday evening I met Jim about 5:15 at Lavandou (http://www.lavandourestaurant.net/) in Cleveland Park for dinner. I had the lamb stew in lime and cream sauce. It was delicious! Then we went down to the National Theater to see "Les Miserables" (http://www.lesmis.com/). It was fantastic. We both had a wonderful time. It was so good I almost didn't mind that I turned 58. Ouch.
